THE BASICS
Brand: PetSafe
Product: Busy Buddy Kibble Nibble
Size: Small (suitable dogs up to 20lbs)
Color: Blue translucent

I had two food dispensing toys as a puppy, and used them consistently as I was a finicky eater and did not want to eat out of an ordinary food bowl. Now, I eat everything from any bowl and do not 'need' these toys for eating purpose. However, I sometimes get to play with them especially when my people feel I still have too much energy left at night.

My people added this food dispensing toy recently in my collection. It is called PetSafe Busy Buddy Kibble Nibble. It is similar to OurPets Smart IQ Ball: you roll it over and your kibbles or treats come out of the openings of the toy. However, because of its egg shaped body, it rolls differently from IQ Ball.

This is how it originally came. When you look for it in stores, it should look like this.

Like OurPets Smart IQ Treat Ball and KONG Wobbler, this toy comes apart into two pieces.

After the tags were removed.

This is how the top piece and the bottom piece look like.

The bottom piece is about 3.5 inches diameter.

And the top piece is about 4 inches. Top piece screws on to the bottom, and it is naturally slightly larger.

There are two dispensing holes: one on the top of the top piece, and the other on the bottom of the bottom piece. They are about the same size, and one inch diameter.

It has rubber bumpers to protect the toy itself and your floor. It still makes a lot of noise because this toy is made of hard plastic, but these bumpers seem to help at least a little.

You probably have noticed these pictures of dogs playing with this toy. These stickers are attached to the toy. There are three of them. These dogs are all different breeds and different sizes. The company probably wants to promote that this toy can be enjoyed by any dogs in all sizes and ages.

Although they are all cute, my people peeled them off for easy cleaning.

Now, let's look at these labels. These two labels used to be one piece: the bottom one was inserted in the toy, which was attached to the top one.

This is the back of the top label.

Your people can cut one of the rubber things at the opening if your treats are not dispensing easily. My people did not think that was necessary, and I played it as is when this toy was given to me for the first time.

This is my dinner. A half cup of kibbles.

When I started rolling over this toy, my people realized that the opening was not big enough for the size of my kibbles.

I think my kibbles are in an average size, but there was no way they could come out of this opening.

So, my people decided to cut one of the 'Treat Meter' prongs. It was rather difficult to cut this prong because my people did not have a pair of tiny scissors. After this was done, kibbles came out more easily.

As for the dubber bumpers, it is easy to make decorations to them. I did not chew on the toy, but I made quite a few teeth marks here and there while I was trying to get my kibbles out.

Now, size comparison of all three food dispensing toys I have.

And, of course, video demonstration follows. Enjoy!

These three food dispensing toys are all different, and they are fun. My favorite? It depends. If I my people feel I have energy to burn, they would choose OurPets Smart IQ Ball. If they feel they want to give me some fun while I eat, they would offer me KONG Wobbler. I guess Busy Buddy Kibble Nibble is sort of in between.

OurPet's Smarter Toys IQ Treat Ball

THE BASICS
Brand: OurPet's
Product: IQ Treat Ball
Size: Small (3 inch ball)
Color: Blue
Availability: available
Website: http://www.ourpets.com/products_smartertoys.html

I was a finicky eater when I was a puppy. Especially when I was going through the process of teething, everything felt weird in my mouth and I just did not want to put anything in it. My people were worried about me because I still had a lot of growing to do, and got me some 'food dispensing toys'. The first one was KONG Wobbler, which I introduced to you earlier, but I was afraid to play with it because it wobbled! So, they got me this OurPet's Smarter Toys IQ Treat Ball, which rolls just like a regular ball that I liked, while dispensing kibbles.

Smarter Toys IQ Treat Ball comes in two sizes. I have the 'Small' (3 inches), and the 'Large' (5 inches) is in orange. For my body size, 'Small' works just fine.

This toy has three pieces. The opaque blue half ball is the bottom piece, and clear blue one screws onto the bottom piece. The white disk with a hole sits on the bottom piece if you choose to use it.

This white disk is an optional piece. At first, I used this toy without it for easier dispensing of kibbles. My people put kibbles in the bottom half cup, screw the top lid back on, and I started rolling the ball.

After I learned how to play with this toy, my people inserted the white disk to raise the difficulty level. This disk has a hole that can be adjusted the size. This photo shows when the hole is to its largest size.

The window closes completely by rotating the top piece, but you cannot get any kibbles this way.

When the disk was inserted at first, the hole was completely open. Then, it was adjusted like this: about a kibble size.

This white disk sits on the bottom unit like this. My goodies are underneath this disk.

Now, I will show you how I play with this toy.

Look! Finally, I got a kibble.

This toy is pretty labor intensive. More so than KONG Wobbler, in my opinion. The ball keeps rolling and I spend more time chasing after the toy rather than eating. In fact, I started playing in the kitchen, and I could go as far as the living room as I kept pushing this ball around. This toy is made of hard plastic, and it makes quite a bit of noise when you play with it on the non-carpeted area of your place.

Just like KONG Wobbler, this toy does not stay in my toy bucket. My people wash it after I finish playing and store it somewhere I cannot sniff. Since it is made of hard plastic, it can shatter if you are a very powerful chewer. And, if you are very smart and can open the screwed top, you could also chew on the white disk inside.

So, would I recommend this toy? Yes, I do. Although I now prefer KONG Wobbler, when I was a puppy, this was my main food dish until I started eating normally. If you are teething and do not want to eat, why don't you combine your meal with a little bit of fun play?

Do you have a KONG or two in your toy box? I do! I have a red one (Classic KONG) that I inherited from Sachi. KONG is an extremely versatile toy and you can play in so many different ways. I am sure my fellow pooches love it as much as I do!

This is me with my KONG when I was three months old (September, 2012). I liked chewing on it especially when I was teething.

Still now, KONG is one of my favorite toys. I chew on it, chase after it, bonce it, roll around with it, play fetch with my people, and sometimes I find treats inside!

I found a stick raw hide chew treat in my KONG. Wait until my people say ‘ok’.

And, I get it!

KONG Wobbler is a KONG shaped treat dispensing toy. They come in two sizes; small and large. I have a small one (6 inches tall x 4 inches wide: suitable for dogs up to 25lbs). However, it is much larger than my red KONG (size medium: 3.5 inches tall). My KONG looks tiny, doesn’t it?

Wobbler has two parts: the top part screws on to the bottom. There is a small opening on the front side of the top piece for dispensing of treats. The bottom part is heavy: sounds like some sand or something in it when you shake it. When the top part is screwed on to the bottom piece, it wobbles!

The diameter of the base unit is 3.5 inches.

My people hold the top part upside down, put kibbles in it, and screws the bottom part as a lid.

Now I will show you how I use it.

I have to work quite hard physically and mentally in order to get what is in it, and it takes much longer to finish my meals this way.

This was the first treat dispensing toy I got as a puppy. Now, I finish everything that is in my food bowl, but when I was small, I was kind of a finicky eater. My people worried about me because I had a lot of growing to do, and thought I would eat better if eating was combined with playing, which, of course, I loved as puppy.

This was me when I was introduced Wobbler for the first time. I was afraid of it because it moved strange, and did not know what to do with it. My people showed my how to play with it, but I was not sure if I wanted to try. So, I looked at my people to see if they could help me.

Then, I looked at Wobbler to see if it does something by itself.

Eventually, I figured it out and now I enjoy playing with it quite a bit.

KONG is a rubber toy, but KONG Wobbler is made of 'FDA food-approved, high-strength, plastic polymer'. I do not really know what it means, but it feels hard plastic to me. I like chewing on plastic things, and I managed to make some decorations to my Wobbler as well. I used my sharp puppy teeth!

This toy does not stay in my toy bucket. After I finish playing with it, my people wash it and store it somewhere I cannot sniff.

I like this toy quite a bit. I think it is particularly beneficial for dogs who eat their meals way too fast. Would I recommend this to my fellow pooches? Yes, I do! I am sure you will have fun with it.
