Holiday Special: Halloween, 2013

I got a special toy for Halloween! My toy bucket is pretty season-less, meaning, I do not have any Christmas toys or Hanukkah toys, etc. However, my people though this may be good for me because they are made for 'tough chewers'. If you have seen pictures of my 'Chew Art' collections on my Facebook page, you know what my people are talking about.

This is how it came when my people ordered this toy online. There is a big tag attached to his head, which I will explain later.

This is how big this toy is. He has long arms and legs, but the main parts (= head and body) are quite small. I usually get 'small' sized toys, but for this, my people thought 'Large' would be good.

Let's look at his face. He does not look evil, rather, his face is comical and cute.

This is his back. His ears and hands have some orange in the front, but the back is all black except for a small detail...

A heart is sewn on his right lower back. How cute!

His name is embroidered in green on his tummy. His name is 'Boo'!

Mr. Boo has some knots on his arms and legs. Tiny squeakers are inside of his hands and feet, and a little bigger ones are in his head and body. Six squeakers in total!

Let's look at the tag I was talking about a little earlier that came with Boo. You see the green thing inside the tag sleeve?

There is a piece of fabric inside the pocket, and it says ' helps make toys last longer!' I see, this is the secret that this toy being for tough chewers!

On the back of the tag, it say, 'Toys are a vital part of every dog's development. They help to relieve boredom and ensure happy and healthy puppies!' Yes, I cannot agree more.

I played with this toy for a while, and I really like it. It is made really well, and I like the texture of Boo's body. My people like it too, because there is minimal amount of stuffing inside, and even I manage to open him up, it is not going to be too messy.

I recommend this toy for those who like chewing on their toys. However, this toy is fun to play tug-of-war with, fetch, and much more. It is light weight and although his arms and legs are quite long, I can manage this size with no problem!

Grriggles Trick or Treat Halloween Tug Toy

THE BASICS
Brand: Grriggles
Product: Trick or Treat Tug Orange & Black
Size: 10 1/4 inches long
Color: Orange and Black
Availability: available at various stores
Website: n/a

Holiday Special: Halloween, 2013

I recently received this toy from my human friend for Halloween. This toy is made of cotton tug rope with a tennis ball on each end. Two writings on each ball say 'Trick' and 'Treat'! Besides, it is black and orange, and it cannot get more festive for Halloween!

I love tennis balls and rope toys, and this toy has both. The size of this toy is roughly 10 inches long.

My friend who sent this to me worried that this may be too big for me. It is quite big. The size of the tennis balls is the same as regular tennis balls, and I won't be able to carry two of them at a time if there is no rope in between. But I can with this toy!

* This blue tennis ball is a dog toy, but it is the same size as human tennis balls.

Let's look at this toy in details. The writings on the tennis balls are printed, so they will eventually disappear, which is ok with me.

There are two holes in each tennis ball and the rope goes through them. It is placed securely.

I have not played with this toy enough to say for sure, but it is durable, and so far, I have not been able to make any decorations to it. Some toys are simply not made strong enough for my liking, but this one is so far looking good!

Now, I will bring this to my people and see if they would play with me. I like playing by myself, but it is more fun to invite your people to hold this toy so you can pull it as hard as you can, or ask them to toss it for you!

Thank you, my human friend, for a thoughtful gift. As you can see in this video, I can handle this toy with no problem!

Kyjen Invincible Gecko

THE BASICS
Brand: Kyjen
Product: Kyjen Invincible Gecko
Size: 15" x 9", weight: 0.22lbs (information from the company website)
Color: Blue multi
Availability: This model has been discontinued. 'Extreme Seam Invincibles Blue Gecko 2 Squeak' is the current version.
Website: http://shop.kyjen.com/invincible-gecko-blue-2-squeak.html

Do you like squeaky toys? I love them! However, they eventually stop making interesting sounds, don't they? I cannot figure out why. I still play with those 'quiet' toys, but it is definitely more fun when they squeak.

This toy, Kyjen Invincible Gecko, is still going strong after I chewed on it, shook it pretty hard pretending he was my prey, played tug-of-war with my people with it, and after being washed many times. Of course, he looked a little fresher when he first appeared in my toy bucket, but he still has all parts, and best of all, he still squeaks!

Mr. Gecko comes in two sizes, and they are called not 'small' and 'large', but 'two squeakers' and 'four squeakers'. Mine is the 'two squeakers'; the smaller one.

This orange one is for bigger dogs with four squeakers.

Side by side size comparison.

Look at his face! Do you like his funny eyes?

He has a little tail like this.

His tummy is light blue color. The orange four squeaker version has the yellow underside.

This is a plush toy with squeakers inside. However, two squeakers in his tummy are not ordinary ones. They are huge; approximately 4 inch long. What makes this toy different from other squeaker toys is these gigantic squeakers. They not only big in size, but they are very, very strong.

This is what it says on the package. Although I have not made that much damage to the squeaker, I would believe it.

I am pretty rough on my toys, but Mr. Gecko has been doing pretty well.

You have to hear the sound of these squeakers. Please watch a video demonstration below.

Oh, by the way, this is the toy I have in my mouth in the title cover photo of this blog. I like this toy a lot and play with it quite often. I love the idea that this toy keeps squeaking even after you do quite a bit of damage to it. I would recommend it to the heavy chewers and those who like dissecting toys like myself!

OurPet's Smarter Toys IQ Treat Ball

THE BASICS
Brand: OurPet's
Product: IQ Treat Ball
Size: Small (3 inch ball)
Color: Blue
Availability: available
Website: http://www.ourpets.com/products_smartertoys.html

I was a finicky eater when I was a puppy. Especially when I was going through the process of teething, everything felt weird in my mouth and I just did not want to put anything in it. My people were worried about me because I still had a lot of growing to do, and got me some 'food dispensing toys'. The first one was KONG Wobbler, which I introduced to you earlier, but I was afraid to play with it because it wobbled! So, they got me this OurPet's Smarter Toys IQ Treat Ball, which rolls just like a regular ball that I liked, while dispensing kibbles.

Smarter Toys IQ Treat Ball comes in two sizes. I have the 'Small' (3 inches), and the 'Large' (5 inches) is in orange. For my body size, 'Small' works just fine.

This toy has three pieces. The opaque blue half ball is the bottom piece, and clear blue one screws onto the bottom piece. The white disk with a hole sits on the bottom piece if you choose to use it.

This white disk is an optional piece. At first, I used this toy without it for easier dispensing of kibbles. My people put kibbles in the bottom half cup, screw the top lid back on, and I started rolling the ball.

After I learned how to play with this toy, my people inserted the white disk to raise the difficulty level. This disk has a hole that can be adjusted the size. This photo shows when the hole is to its largest size.

The window closes completely by rotating the top piece, but you cannot get any kibbles this way.

When the disk was inserted at first, the hole was completely open. Then, it was adjusted like this: about a kibble size.

This white disk sits on the bottom unit like this. My goodies are underneath this disk.

Now, I will show you how I play with this toy.

Look! Finally, I got a kibble.

This toy is pretty labor intensive. More so than KONG Wobbler, in my opinion. The ball keeps rolling and I spend more time chasing after the toy rather than eating. In fact, I started playing in the kitchen, and I could go as far as the living room as I kept pushing this ball around. This toy is made of hard plastic, and it makes quite a bit of noise when you play with it on the non-carpeted area of your place.

Just like KONG Wobbler, this toy does not stay in my toy bucket. My people wash it after I finish playing and store it somewhere I cannot sniff. Since it is made of hard plastic, it can shatter if you are a very powerful chewer. And, if you are very smart and can open the screwed top, you could also chew on the white disk inside.

So, would I recommend this toy? Yes, I do. Although I now prefer KONG Wobbler, when I was a puppy, this was my main food dish until I started eating normally. If you are teething and do not want to eat, why don't you combine your meal with a little bit of fun play?

KONG and KONG WOBBLER

THE BASICS
Brand: KONG
Product: KONG Classic
Size: M (3.5 inches tall: suitable for dogs between 15-35lbs)
Color: Red
Availability: available
Website: http://www.kongcompany.com/products/for-dogs/rubber-toys/classic-rubber-toys/classic/

Brand: KONG
Product: KONG Wobbler
Size: Small (6 inches tall x 4 inches wide: suitable for dogs up to 25lbs)
Color: Red
Availability: available
Website: http://www.kongcompany.com/products/for-dogs/interactive/wobbler-2/wobbler/

Do you have a KONG or two in your toy box? I do! I have a red one (Classic KONG) that I inherited from Sachi. KONG is an extremely versatile toy and you can play in so many different ways. I am sure my fellow pooches love it as much as I do!

This is me with my KONG when I was three months old (September, 2012). I liked chewing on it especially when I was teething.

Still now, KONG is one of my favorite toys. I chew on it, chase after it, bonce it, roll around with it, play fetch with my people, and sometimes I find treats inside!

I found a stick raw hide chew treat in my KONG. Wait until my people say ‘ok’.

And, I get it!

KONG Wobbler is a KONG shaped treat dispensing toy. They come in two sizes; small and large. I have a small one (6 inches tall x 4 inches wide: suitable for dogs up to 25lbs). However, it is much larger than my red KONG (size medium: 3.5 inches tall). My KONG looks tiny, doesn’t it?

Wobbler has two parts: the top part screws on to the bottom. There is a small opening on the front side of the top piece for dispensing of treats. The bottom part is heavy: sounds like some sand or something in it when you shake it. When the top part is screwed on to the bottom piece, it wobbles!

The diameter of the base unit is 3.5 inches.

My people hold the top part upside down, put kibbles in it, and screws the bottom part as a lid.

Now I will show you how I use it.

I have to work quite hard physically and mentally in order to get what is in it, and it takes much longer to finish my meals this way.

This was the first treat dispensing toy I got as a puppy. Now, I finish everything that is in my food bowl, but when I was small, I was kind of a finicky eater. My people worried about me because I had a lot of growing to do, and thought I would eat better if eating was combined with playing, which, of course, I loved as puppy.

This was me when I was introduced Wobbler for the first time. I was afraid of it because it moved strange, and did not know what to do with it. My people showed my how to play with it, but I was not sure if I wanted to try. So, I looked at my people to see if they could help me.

Then, I looked at Wobbler to see if it does something by itself.

Eventually, I figured it out and now I enjoy playing with it quite a bit.

KONG is a rubber toy, but KONG Wobbler is made of 'FDA food-approved, high-strength, plastic polymer'. I do not really know what it means, but it feels hard plastic to me. I like chewing on plastic things, and I managed to make some decorations to my Wobbler as well. I used my sharp puppy teeth!

This toy does not stay in my toy bucket. After I finish playing with it, my people wash it and store it somewhere I cannot sniff.

I like this toy quite a bit. I think it is particularly beneficial for dogs who eat their meals way too fast. Would I recommend this to my fellow pooches? Yes, I do! I am sure you will have fun with it.
